The Team

Welsh Kerry Motorsports (WKM) is the name used by Welsh Kerry Racing LLC for its on-track activities. Welsh Kerry Racing LLC was established in 2003 to formalize the performance driving interests of owner John C. Williams. Welsh Kerry Racing provides affordable sponsorship and marketing opportunities to local and regional businesses in the rapidly growing motorsports arena. WKM offers sponsors access to the highest level of amature motorsports, allowing friends, employees, and clients “backstage” access to the cars, crew, and drivers.

The Driver

John C. Williams, Welsh Kerry Racing owner/driver, is a nine-year veteran of on-track performance driving, beginning with Porsche Club of America high-performance driving schools and culminating, in his first year of SCCA National competition, in a 2005 Runoffs berth. John is a podium finisher in SCCA and NASA competition, has competed in the Skip Barber Regional Series and is a driving instructor for the BMW and Porsche Clubs of America. In 2004, John finished third in the ITS class of the SCCA Kryder Cup Regional Series and in 2005, driving a Porsche Boxster S in T2 class, finished in the top 10 in the SCCA Central Division, securing his entry to the Runoffs, the SCCA National Championships. John’s day job is as principal and founder of Process Creative Studios, an award-winning architecture and design studio in Cleveland. He is also very active in the community, serving as president of the boards of SPACES, one of the leading artist-run, non-profit galleries in the country and the Cleveland Museum of Art’s Friends of Photography.

The Racing

The Sports Car Club of America, a non-profit organization of 60,000 members, is the largest sanctioning body in the country for motorsports. Competition cars are divided into race classes, depending on age, weight, engine size, and modifications. The country is divided into seven divisions and 110 regions, providing for over 300 regionally and nationally ranked races each year. The Runoffs, considered the Super Bowl or Olympics of amateur road racing, brings together 800 cars in 23 classes to compete for the national championships. Car and Driver Magazine, the largest automotive publication in the world, named the Runoffs as one of the Top Ten Events in Motorsports.

The 2007 NASA National Championships will take place September 13 - 16 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, with practice on the 13th, qualifying races on the 14th and 15th, and the Championship race on the 16th. • Sponsorship Opportunities

There are many advantages to promoting your business with sponsorship in motorsports, from a simple autographed photo of a race car that spurs conversation to possible exposure on national TV. Primarily, sponsorship at this level is about hospitality. Imagine bringing a client to the track for a day of racing: sitting in the padock area by the race car, having lunch with driver and crew, and then cheering your driver on during the race. See what goes on behind the scenes. Imagine bringing a client to a driving school where they can actually ride on the track in the race car. Or perhaps a company picnic, where the car and driver are there to give a presentation, answer questions, or give slow rides around the parking lot to the children. It's about access and entertainment. Consider all the possibilities:
